Apply Homestead Exemption by April 1, 2011

Do you know that you could save more than $200 off your property tax annually? A homestead exemption a reduction in homeowners' property taxes. Currently, the homestead exemption in Fulton County reduces the taxable value of a home by $15,000, resulting in a tax savings of more than $200 per year.

If you bought a property in 2010 or earlier that you are using as your primary residence, you are qualified for the exemption. To get the benefit, you must apply for this exemption on or before April 1st (for most counties) at your county's tax office.  Once granted, this exemption is automatically renewed each year as long as you continuously occupy the property under the same ownership.
